Service summary

A whole time new consultant post in older adult liaison psychiatry is now available with the RAID service, will be based at Knowsley Recovery and resource centre Whiston general hospital. This new post is funded by CCG as part of Core 24. The appointee will play a key role in developing the service in line with Core 24 standards specified in Nice Guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities

The post holder will have to demonstrate a commitment to clinical excellence and should have the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary team. The main responsibilities will be to provide clinical, educational, managerial, liaison and contribute to service evaluation. The post holder will have work closely with acute hospital colleagues and should be a people person who can collaborate and innovate.

Person specification

The post holder should have MRCPsych or equivalent with full registration, licence to practice and specialist registered or within 6 months of obtaining CCT on the date of the advisory appointment committee. The post is suitable for those who have CCT in Old Age Psychiatry or a dual CCT in Old Age and General Adult Psychiatry. An endorsement in Liaison psychiatry is desirable but not essential.

The post holder should have excellent knowledge in assessing and providing mental health interventions for people with physical health problems
