Band 6 - Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner

Permanent Full Time

based at Thorn Road Clinic, Runcorn, Halton (subject to change due to team expansion)

We are excited to be recruiting to a number of new posts within our Specialist Perinatal Service following a successful bid for additional funding from NHS England.

The Service consists of three teams working closely together across the Cheshire and Mersey footprint, within Cheshire and Wirral Partnership, Merseycare and North West Boroughs NHS Trusts. We support women who experience moderate to severe mental health difficulties in the Perinatal period (throughout pregnancy and up to baby’s first birthday), providing a holistic package of care for mums, babies and families via our passionate and responsive multi-disciplinary team.

Perinatal Mental Health practitioners play an integrative role in each of the MDTs and are valued and well supported by colleagues, provided with CPD and training opportunities.

We are looking for a mental health practitioner for our Northwest Boroughs Healthcare team who is a strong team player and who has an understanding of the unique nature of the perinatal period and the need to balance the needs of mum & baby.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the effective provision of Perinatal Mental and Infant Mental Health Services to an identified caseload of women.

The core purpose of the team in which the post-holder will work is to deliver high quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment based approaches to mothers and infants.

The service will have a key role in raising the profile and standards of mental health care for expectant and newly delivered mothers across universal and specialist services. It is expected that clinical work will be undertaken in the Boroughs of Halton, Warrington, St Helens and Knowsley.

IMPORTANT: The ability, means and willingness to travel between multiple sites in the course of performing duties is essential in this post. The role will involve regular travel across multiple sites in the North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust catchment area. Therefore, the post holder must be able to meet the travel requirements of this post. Please indicate on your application how you meet this requirement.

ALSO, as part of these travel commitments, the post-holder will be expected, on a regular basis, to cross the Mersey River Gateway Toll Bridge for which there is an on-line charge of £2 for each crossing. With the exception of home to base and base to home crossings, these expenses can be claimed back from the Trust.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. Successful candidates will either have a valid DBS check with the Trust or will be required to pay for the cost of the DBS Disclosure which is £47.50 for an enhanced disclosure, the cost of which will be deducted from first salary.
